Turn an interview into Shorts

A good interview is a string of questions and answers that each stand alone. It's practically a ready-made Shorts format, as long as you cut it well.

What makes a good interview Short?

A strong answer that makes sense on its own. Often the question isn't even needed: if the guest restates the topic at the start of their answer, the clip can open right on them.

The best answers are the most personal: a memory, a regret, a strong opinion. Very general answers rarely make good clips.

How does Clipotte handle two people on screen?

The 9:16 reframe follows the main face and cuts cleanly on shot changes: if the interview switches cameras, each shot is reframed on whoever is visible.

In a locked-off two-shot, full frame can only keep one person at a time; the whole video on a blurred background keeps both. Choose per clip in the editor.

Should I keep the question in the clip?

Keep it if the answer doesn't make sense without it, cut it if it's long or the answer stands alone. Another option: cut the spoken question and show it as an on-screen hook title (+€1 option).

Clipotte's AI looks for passages that stand alone and end on the payoff, as explained in how AI picks the moments. Adjust the start in the editor by deleting or restoring words.

Do I need my guest's permission?

Yes, that's good practice: agreeing to an interview doesn't necessarily mean agreeing to short, out-of-context excerpts circulating on social media. Tell your guest and, ideally, let them see sensitive clips first.

A trimmed excerpt can change what a sentence means: make sure each clip stays true to what the guest meant. Rights questions are covered in reposting a video on other platforms.

How much does an interview cost?

Clipotte is paid per video, based on the length processed: €4.90 up to 30 minutes, €7.90 up to 1 hour, €12.90 up to 2 hours, €16.90 up to 3 hours. Options: animated captions +€2, face and licence plate blur +€3, hook titles +€1.

For a regular interview show, the logic is close to a podcast's: see a video podcast into clips.

Frequently asked questions

What if the interview is shot outdoors?

The blur option (+€3) detects and tracks passers-by's faces and licence plates. It isn't foolproof: check before posting.

Can I fix a misspelt name in the transcript?

Yes, in the transcript editor: fix the text and the captions follow.

The interview has strong accents, will it work?

Transcription handles most accents, but always proofread captions before exporting.

How many clips from a 30-minute interview?

Clipotte aims for about one clip per two and a half minutes, so around a dozen at most, and fewer if the material is weak.
