Turn a long video into Shorts, step by step

A 40-minute video usually hides five or six moments that work on their own. Here is how to turn them into short vertical clips with Clipotte, from upload to download.

What do I need to get started?

Just your video file and a browser. Clipotte takes MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and AVI, up to 3 hours and 4 GB, and you don't need an account to start.

There is no link import: for a video already on your channel, download the file from YouTube Studio first. Turning a YouTube video into Shorts covers this in detail.

Do I have to process the whole video?

No. You can keep only the useful range, and the price follows the length you keep. Trimming the intro, the break or twenty minutes of housekeeping means you don't pay for parts that will never become clips.

The price shows before you pay. Clipotte is paid per video, based on the length processed: €4.90 up to 30 minutes, €7.90 up to 1 hour, €12.90 up to 2 hours, €16.90 up to 3 hours. Options: animated captions +€2, face and licence plate blur +€3, hook titles +€1.

Which clip length should I pick?

The auto setting looks for clips of 20 to 90 seconds, which suits most talking videos. You can also force under 30 seconds, 30 to 60, 60 to 90 seconds, or longer clips of up to 3 minutes.

Short clips suit punchy lines and reactions; longer ones suit explanations that need a bit of context. Platform limits are covered in the ideal length of a short.

How does Clipotte pick the moments?

It transcribes the video word by word, then looks for passages that make sense on their own, open strong and end on a payoff. Each clip gets a score out of 99 broken down into hook, flow, value and trend.

An optional brief steers the search, such as “funny moments” or “striking numbers”. The details are in how AI picks the moments.

What can I fix before posting?

Everything happens in the transcript editor: delete words to cut, fix a typo in the captions, switch caption style in one click. You can also switch from full frame (face tracking) to the whole video on a blurred background.

Each clip has a suggested title, description and hashtags you can edit and copy for your post.

What if I don't like the clips?

You get one free regeneration per video, with a free-text brief asking for different moments. Moments you already rejected are avoided in the new search.

If you are still not happy, you can ask for a refund for 14 days from your account; it is automatic if processing fails.
