Proofread a text by listening to it
After reading your own text a few times, your eye quietly fixes what it expects to see. Hearing it in another voice brings out missing words, repetitions and sentences that run too long.

What you hear better than you see
- Missing or doubled words
A “the the” or a missing word slips past silent reading, much less so when you listen.
- Sentences that run too long
If the voice has to keep going without a breath, the sentence probably needs splitting.
- Rhythm
Repeated sounds and awkward transitions jump out at the ear.
The steps
- 1. Add Paste your text, or upload it as a PDF if it is already laid out.
- 2. Listen Press play: the current sentence is highlighted, and so is the word being spoken. Tap a sentence to jump to it.
- 3. Adjust Speed from 0.75× to 3×, your choice of voice, and pitch, warmth and clarity settings on the Voices page.
- 4. Pick up later The document stays in your library: reading resumes at the sentence where you stopped.
What the tool does well, and what it misses
- Good: highlighting You see where the voice is, and you can note the sentence to rework.
- Good: speed at 1× A normal speed gives you time to notice what sounds off.
- Worth knowing: not a spell checker Readotte reads what is written: it does not flag spelling mistakes and does not correct anything.
- Worth knowing: homophones “Their” and “there”, or “its” and “it's”, sound the same, so listening cannot tell them apart.
