How much does NaturalReader cost?

NaturalReader's Lite plan is listed at $13.90 a month or $79 a year on its official help page about personal version plans and pricing, checked on October 23, 2026. That page also says the audio is for personal use only.

Why look for a NaturalReader alternative?

Most often for the price, when you only listen a few hours a month. Paying $79 upfront for a year does not always fit an occasional need, such as an exam period.

Others simply want to open a page in the browser, drop in a PDF and listen, with no account and no card.

How much does the same use cost with Readotte?

To listen to a PDF or an article for a few hours a month, Readotte costs nothing or €3.99 a month. Free listening goes up to about 10 minutes a day with no account; Readotte Plus removes the daily limit, within a fair use of about 20 hours a month, and adds MP3 download.

As with NaturalReader Lite, the audio is for personal use only: Readotte's MP3 cannot be published, broadcast or resold. Neither of the plans compared here is meant for a commercial voice-over.

What can NaturalReader do better?

If you read in languages other than English and French, or formats Readotte does not support, such as Word, EPUB or scanned PDFs, NaturalReader may suit you better: check these points on its official pages before choosing. Readotte only reads English and French, and has no mobile app and no browser extension.

NaturalReader's yearly plan may also suit you if you already know you will use it all year and prefer to pay once. Readotte has no yearly plan.

What does Readotte actually do?

Readotte reads a PDF, an article link or pasted text aloud, highlighting the sentence and the word being spoken. For PDFs, it rebuilds headings, lists and paragraphs, and leaves out headers, footers, page numbers, small-print notes and citation marks like [12].

You choose from 10 voices, 5 in English (with US and UK accents among them) and 5 in French, set the speed from 0.75× to 3× without changing the pitch of the voice, and pick up where you stopped. Everything happens in the browser; see read a PDF aloud and read an article aloud.

Where are documents processed with Readotte?

The text is extracted and spoken by our servers in Europe, on Google Cloud in Belgium, without any third-party text-to-speech service. The PDF file itself is not kept: only its text stays in your library, until you delete it.

The audio of generated sentences is cached for 30 days at most. If you compare with NaturalReader on this point, read its own privacy policy.
