Souvenotte: facts and prices

Souvenotte restores old photos with AI, sells them in HD one by one or in packs, and prints them as prints, frames, canvases or stickers delivered in Europe.

What the tool does

• Automatic restoration, in this order: contrast recovered on brightness only (CLAHE), sharpness and ×2 enlargement (Real-ESRGAN x2plus, in 512-pixel tiles), faces rebuilt one by one (GFPGAN v1.4), colourisation of black and white or sepia photos (DDColor).
• Models under licences that allow commercial use: Real-ESRGAN (BSD-3), GFPGAN (Apache-2.0), YuNet face detector (MIT), DDColor (Apache-2.0).
• Faces: detected when at least 24 pixels across, cropped to 512 × 512 pixels, rebuilt, then blended back with a soft edge. Automatic framing of prints centres on them.
• Black and white detection: the photo is reduced to 256 × 256 pixels; if its colours barely vary (combined standard deviation of the a and b axes of Lab space below 9), it is colourised in “Auto colour”.
• Colourisation: DDColor at 512 × 512 pixels, on the already restored photo; 85% of the suggested saturation is kept, for natural skin tones.
• Colourisation automatic, forced or refused at upload; going back to black and white is free.
• Full free preview with a watermark and a before/after slider.
• Accepted files: JPG, PNG, WebP, 25 MB max, up to 20 photos at once. A scan larger than 1,600 pixels on the long side is first reduced to 1,600 pixels; result up to 3,200 pixels.
• Preview: 1,100 pixels on the long side, a light diagonal watermark, and a “before” image at the same framing for the slider.
• Studio: framing by drag and zoom (up to ×3), 5 looks (natural, vivid, soft, sepia, black and white), white margin or polaroid border, caption of up to 60 characters (handwritten or rounded font), up to 9 photos in one product, black, white or wood frame.
• Print files prepared at 250 dpi (4,200 pixels at most); the Studio warns you when a photo drops below about 200 dpi at the chosen size.
• Delivery: 2 to 3 days of production, then 4 to 7 days standard or 2 to 4 express; tracking link by e-mail when shipped.
• Photos deleted automatically 7 days after upload; files of a printed order kept 60 days. Files stored in Europe.
• Account optional; site in French and English.

Limits

• Does not fill tears, folds, large scratches or missing parts.
• Does not invert negatives and does not scan photos (you need a scan or a picture of the print).
• Colours are imagined by the AI, not recovered; no manual colour choice.
• A face that is too small (under 24 pixels) or strongly turned may not be detected or rebuilt; there is no option to turn face reconstruction off.
• Small text and insignia can be smoothed; there is no face zoom and no manual setting.
• Restoration may be computed outside the EU (GPU at Modal, EU or United States, see the privacy policy). Photos are never used to train a model.
• Personalised products have no 14-day right of withdrawal; an address typed wrong is not covered.
• Delivery to France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Austria and Ireland, in 6 to 10 days (4 to 7 express).
